We at the Grand Theater are so ecstatic for the 2016-17 Season to start and hope you’ll join in our excitement with the many Opening Week events!

Kicking off the season with tons of spunk and energy is Vocalosity, a group of powerhouse a cappella performers known for their dynamic voices and remarkable choreography on October 11 at 7:30pm. Enjoy in the mid-October weather with us pre-show at the Opening Week Block Party on Fourth Street beginning at 4pm. Food trucks will be serving your favorite meals on wheels to accompany the live music in the Great Hall. What kind of music? A cappella of course! Wausau’s own Living River, is bringing their talent downtown for some pre-show entertainment. Opening for Vocalosity is local talent and “Aca-Performance of a Lifetime” contest winner, On Point! Hailing from Stevens Point the group will be representing the area by showcasing their best a cappella on stage at The Grand.

Opening week mania continues with the hilarity of Chicago’s The Second City, who bring their politically satirical new material to Wausau in “Free Speech (While Supplies Last)” October 14 at 7:30pm. This band of sketch geniuses fire shots at American’s electoral insanity with two hours of skits, songs, and comedic merriment. If you prefer your politics will a side of delicious craft beer you must attend Red, White, and Brew, our Young Professionals Open House in the Center for Visual Arts beginning at 6pm. Engage in a bit of pre-show networking while savoring the top notch potato chip bar provided by City Grill and beer tasting by Great Dane Pub and Brewing Co. Tickets for both The Second City: Free Speech (While Supplies Lasts) and Red, White, and Brew are still available! We are ending our week of festivities across the block at Malarkey’s for a post- show after party!

We hope to see you there!
